Kyle Dillehay, Alice Di Certo, and students with Tacoma Community College had a cool demonstration at First Night Tacoma. They melting old iron pieces at 1200 degrees in an oven. Then they poured the liquid iron into huge blocks of ice. Sensational!

Tacoma Community College students poured molten steel into molds carved by patrons. The highlight was the molten steel being poured into the block of ice. My son standingnext to me had a small hole burned in his coat. It was worth it for the experience.
